Idioms در زبان انگلیسی
در زبان انگلیسی عبارات، اصطلاحات، ضرب المثل ها جزء مهمی از محاوره زبان انگلیسی می باشند. از این اصطلاحات در هر دو حالت نوشتاری و گفتاری استفاده می شود به دلیل اینکه idioms ها همیشه معنی اصلی عبارت را ندارند و به صورت استعاره ای معنی می شوند. شما باید با معانی این عبارات و اصطلاحات آشنا شوید و زمان استفاده از هر کدام را بدانید. در نگاه اول این موضوع کمی سخت جلوه می کند اما یادگیری idioms ها کاری جذاب و سرگرم کننده است مخصوصا زمانی که آن ها را با عبارات و اصطلاحات زبان فارسی مقایسه می کنیم.
یادگیری استفاده از اصطلاحات و عبارات رایج باعث می شود تا زبان انگلیسی شما بومی تر جلوه کند، بنابراین آشنایی و کاربرد این اصطلاحات بسیار مهم و مفید است. در ادامه به بیان یک سری از اصطلاحات و عبارات رایج در زبان انگلیسی پرداخته ایم. شما می توانید با رایج ترین آن ها شروع به یادگیری نمایید و در اینجا ما به این اصطلاحات اشاره کرده ایم و شما آن ها را در اکثر فیلم ها و سریال ها خواهید شنید. همچنین سعی شده به اصطلاحات بسیار قدیمی اشاره نشود تا بتوانید در برقراری ارتباط با انگلیسی زبانان حال حاضر بهتر عمل نمایید.
Idioms رایج در زبان انگلیسی
در این قسمت به بیشترین idiom هایی که در روزمره زبان انگلیسی مورد استفاده می باشد اشاره شده است. شما در فیلم ها و سریال ها این اصطلاحات را مکررا خواهید شنید و می توانید در بیشتر مواقع از این اصطلاحات استفاده نمایید.
1. A blessing in disguise
حتما حکمتی در این کار است
e.g. I believe that in everything there is a blessing in disguise that we still don’t know.
2. A dime a dozen
فراوانی و ارزانی
e.g. With such high unemployment, workers are a dime a dozen.
3. Beat around the bush
طفره رفتن
e.g. Stop beating around the bush and tell me what happened.
4. Better late than never
دیر رسیدن بهتر از هرگز نرسیدن است. البته این اصطلاحات برای موارد دیگر نیز بکار می رود.
e.g. It’s been a long time coming but better late than never.
You can tell him now, remember better late than never.
5. Bite the bullet
سختی را تحمل کردن، سوختن و ساختن
e.g. We bit the bullet and finished the climb
6. Break a leg
موفق باشی
7. Call it a day
تمام کردن کار
e.g. Let’s call it a day
8. Cut somebody some slack
سخت نگرفتن به کسی
e.g. Hey, cut him some slack! He’s doing his best.
9. Cut corners
صرفه جویی کردن، از کار دزدیدن
e.g. To be competitive, they paid low wages and cut corners on health and safety.

e.g. The buyer missed the boat and never got the house when he offered too low a bid.
