کلمه one در زبان انگلیسی معرف عدد یک می باشد اما این کلمه معنی دیگری چون:
One ( = a ….)
نیز دارد.
?These chocolates are good, would you like one
?Would you like one? = would you like a chocolate
One = a / an …. (a chocolate / an apple, etc)
مثال:
I need a pen, Do you have one? (one = a pen)
?A: Is there a bank near here
B: Yes, there’s one on the corner. (one = a bank)
با توجه به مثال های بالا و توضیحات داده شده همانطور که مشاهده کردید کلمه one برای حالات مفرد استفاده می شود و اگر بخواهیم این کلمه را به صورت جمع استفاده کنیم خواهیم داشت:
Ones
پس در مقام مقایسه خواهیم داشت:
One = hat / car / girl, etc
Ones = flowers / cars / girls, etc
از ضمایر اشاره می توانیم همراه با کلمه one استفاده کنیم که البته ones با ضمایر اشاره همراه نمی شود:
This one / that one
Which car is yours? This one or that one? (= this car or that car)
These / those (without ones)
Which flowers do you want? These or those? (usually not these ones or those ones)
قبل از one و ones می توان از حرف تعریف the نیز استفاده کرد به این صورت که:
….The one
?A: Which hotel did you stay at
B: The one near the airport
در این حالت به یک جای مشخص اشاره داریم اما اسم آن چیز یا مکان را بیان نمی کنیم.
?I found this key. Is it the one you lost
…The ones
?A: Which books are yours
B: The ones on the table
?I found these keys. Are they the ones you lost
از ساختار قبل می توان به شکل زیر نیز استفاده کرد و قبل از one و ones یک صفت نیز برای مشخص کردن اسم مورد نظر بکار گرفته می شود:
The …. One
I don’t like the black coat, but I like the brown one
Don’t buy that camera. Buy the other one
The … ones
I don’t like the red shoes, but I like the green ones
Don’t buy those apples. Buy the other ones
همچنین می توان one را با ساختار زیر نیز بیان کرد:
a / an …one
?This cup is dirty. Can I have a clean one
در اینجا به فنجان مشخصی اشاره نمی شود و کلمه نامشخص می باشد.
That cookie was good. I’m going to have another one
همچنین با توجه به ساختار قبل می توان برای ones ساختار زیر را مطرح کرد:
Some … ones
?These cups are dirty. Can we have some clean ones
My shoes are very old. I’m going to buy some new ones
